The activity of the MAILab Operating Unit has been active for some years now on two fundamental themes: 1) communication and industrial automation and 2) Power Quality measurements. Both sectors will be active in the next three years, in particular on: 1) industrial communication: research is mostly aimed at fieldbus on Ethernet, integrating process and electrical system. Strong expertise has been developed on the technological aspects of the National Industry 4.0 Project, also through participation in the joint ISO/IEC working group on Smart Manufacturing (TC65-WG21). 2) as regards Power Quality measurements, the Unit is specialized in analyzing plant data aimed at identifying any critical issues and the consequent mitigation measures.
